Bevagna

Bevagna is a town of 5024 inhabitants of the province of Perugia, once known for its valuable paintings that were produced, enough to be called "Bevagna". Is included among the most beautiful villages in Italy.
In this Umbrian town was shot in the 1936 film Music in Piazza di Mario Mattioli, and in 2007 were filmed scenes from the fictional television Rai Uno Don Matteo 6.
History
Roman town (Mevania), experienced some prosperity during the imperial era. Also seems to have been around the bishopric III-IV century. Repeatedly was subjected to looting and destruction: in 1152 Frederick Barbarossa captured and burned in 1249 was destroyed by the Count of Aquino and in 1375 by Corrado Trinci.
Monuments and churches
* Palazzo dei Consoli: dating back to 1270, is a structure characterized by a wide flight of steps. Today it houses a theater century.
* Piazza Silvestri is one of the largest medieval squares in the region.
* St. Michael, built towards the end of the twelfth century by the masters Binello and Rudolph, who are mentioned by an inscription at the entrance. The monumental facade of the Romanesque style. The bell-shaped spire was built later.
* S. Silvestro: completed on 1195, is considered one of the masterpieces of Binello.
Events
Spring * medieval in April, display and sale of artisan foods and wines
* Art on the Table: in April, the market shows a local character, display products and dishes with tastings, exhibitions by local artists, concerts.
* Market of the Gaite: In June, medieval banquet, historical parade through the streets of the country, race medieval crafts, culinary competition, taverns medieval archery contest. The four Gaite (neighborhoods) are St. George, St. John, St. Peter and St. Mary.
