Montefalco
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Montefalco is a town of 5702 inhabitants of the province of Perugia. Reference point of the wine region that sees between his "piece" of the Sagrantino di Montefalco and Montefalco Rosso.
Montefalco is situated in a panoramic position, overlooking the plain of Topino and Clitunno. This favorable position is called "the balcony of Umbria".
  History
The toponym Montefalco must, according to tradition, to Frederick II of Swabia. The Emperor, visiting the places in the thirteenth century, noting the large number of hawks in the area, decided to change the place name by Coccorone (Cors Coronae) as today. [1] The presence of the animal in the territory is been gradually declining, reaching its lowest level in modern times. 31 July 2007 was released in the skies of Montefalco a pair of kestrels, for purposes of restocking. [2] The project was a huge success and kestrels are reproduced
