Founder of the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto is the master composer Gian Carlo Menotti (who died in 2007), which established the event in 1958. Since the mid anni'90 to 2007, artistic director was the son Francis Menotti. Before him were the directions, and Romolo Valli di Raffaello de Banfield. Current artistic director is Maestro Giorgio Ferrara.

 Friday June 26 to Sunday July 12 will be held every year in Spoleto, the international event of the Festival dei Due Mondi.

 Events
  * The Festival dei Due Mondi (also known as the Spoleto Festival), founded in 1958 by master composer Gian Carlo Menotti, who with his performances of plays, dances, concerts, exhibitions and films in Spoletocinema, is one of the most prestigious and mundane events of international level. After the death of Maestro Menotti, the festival since 2008 has been entrusted to the direction of Giorgio Ferrara.

 * Every year in August, takes place "Spoleto Summer", an exhibition of cultural, musical and performance that players often see celebrities.

 * Every year in August, takes place in the nearby village of Bazzano Mama Umbria International Festival, curated by the American choreographer Ellen Stewart.

  * Since 1995 Spoleto receives annually (in December) the National Award for the Short Social NICKELODEON, addressed to the authors (professionals and emerging) who have made short films on social themes, or created in projects and charities. The main objectives of the award Nickelodeon and help facilitate the production of films that manage to demonstrate, together with the mastery of the art cinema and audiovisual communication, social issues.

  * Since the events of 1999 are set at year end: during the Christmas period the city organizes cultural and entertainment collective, especially during the New Year.

   * Since 2003 Spoleto receives annually (in May), the International Week of Dance, before moving from Perugia and from Rieti. The event is designed to seek and promote new young rising stars of classical and modern dance.

  * Since 2004 takes place in the city, in September, the initiative the European stars of Taste.

  * Since 2005, the initiative set up food and wine Wine in the World, an exhibition stationed in the city's oldest underground and whose protagonists wines produced by more than 160 wineries from Italy and around the world. In the 2008 was beaten in the event, the world record for biggest cup of glass in the world: the glass, one-piece drawn and painted by the master glazier Lunardon Massimo Vicenza - did score a height of 2.03 meters by 48 cm in diameter and 3 cm in thickness, then entered the Guinness Book of Records, is now housed in the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna of the city.

     * Since 2007, the initiative established enogastrononica Spoleto Typical, shows the market for local products (promoted among others by the Comunità Montana dei Monti Martani and Serano and Reclamation Umbra), which takes place at weekends between 1 and 11 November; historical buildings, streets and mills of the area, welcome visitors with conferences and tastings. Typical Product protagonist is the extra virgin olive oil in the area.
